Letter from the Principal

Greetings,

According to Christian statistician George Barna, only 9% of Christian teens believe in moral absolutes.  A survey by Dr. Gary Railsback found that 59% of Christians renounce their faith before graduation from college.  Too often our Christian kids, rather than being a positive influence upon culture, are being negatively influenced by it. High Point Christian Academy believes our Kingdom Education focus will prepare students to resist these trends.

HPCA is committed to Kingdom Education - a life-long, Bible-based, Christ-centered process of leading a student to Christ, building a student up in Christ, and equipping a student to serve Christ.  We do this in many ways: our teachers are committed to teaching Biblically integrated, academically challenging lessons; our bi-weekly chapels are designed to encourage and motivate students to be instruments of change; and our emphasis on missions provides opportunities for Christian service. HPCA is devoted to helping students discover and apply Biblical principles to every area of their lives, while equipping them for personal and cultural transformation. We are committed to preparing your son or daughter to reverse the disturbing trends we see in today’s culture.

As part of our Kingdom Education focus we have a graduation requirement called Life of Influence (LOI). The LOI graduation requirement takes the place of the more traditional community service graduation requirement that most high schools now expect. Our goal is to be intentional about graduating students who possess not only a head full of knowledge (a Biblical/Christian Worldview) but also a heart for personal and cultural transformation and hands for action. This is a progressive exercise within the high school curriculum, culminating in a senior level Christian service/advocacy Kommunity Impact Project (KIP). Although it is integrated across all the subjects, there is a special focus within the Bible and Social Studies curriculum to assist students in reaching this goal. I also will be meeting with every grade twice a year to shepherd students through this process. (For more information on the Life of Influence graduation requirement see the LOI link.)

It is our prayer that through the Kingdom Education focus at HPCA students will move from knowledge and belief to conviction and impact; the LOI graduation requirement is one of many ways we hope to accomplish this.

Godspeed,

Michael Cliff, High School Principal
